The A36 carbon steel sheet has been hot rolled, has an unpolished (mill) surface, meets American Society for Testing and Materials International ASTM A36 specifications, and has a standard tolerance. The A36 carbon steel grade is a structural steel that has better formability than 1018 carbon steel.
Datasheet for Steel Grades Carbon Steel ASTM A36This page is mainly introduced the ASTM A36 Datasheet, including chemical information, mechanical properties, physical properties, mechanical properties, heat treatment, and Micro structure, etc. It also contains the use of ASTM A36,such as it is commonly used in bars, sheet, plates, steel coils, steel pipes, forged and other materials application.
Sheet metal with an average yield strength of 41,000 PSI can be sold as A36 steel, even though it is 13 percent harder than 36,000-PSI steel. Figure 2 Ram deflection causes a canoe effect, when the parts internal bend angle is greater in the center than at the sides.

Mill Tolerance - ASME (mechanical) Code Issues - Eng-TipsFeb 07, 2012 · I was modeling on AutoPIPE when I came across mill tolerance. According to my understanding, Mill Tolerance is the tolerance for variation in the thickness of pipe from nominal pipe thickness which is 12.5% according to B31.3. i.e for NPS 10" and thickness 6.35 mm it is 0.794 mm Now from the ASTM material specification sheet of A358 we have
Mar 07, 2011 · The mill tolerances on pipe are readily available but there appears to be no reference to mill tolerances on plate. What should be taken as a tolerance on plate? Also, should it be a finite figure or a percentage as per pipe? RE:Mill Tolerance on Plate. Hansac (Mechanical) 7 Mar 11 05:58.

Speedy Metals Information for Hot Rolled Carbon Steel PlateTolerance under specified thickness.010" x 3/4 x 52" wide plate, for example, would have a tolerance range of.740-.780" Because of tolerances, ie thickness, flatness and camber, as well as the hot roll condition, ASTM A36 generally does not finish to specified thickness.
Steel Sheet Thickness Tolerances. ASTM International Committees A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys and A05 on Metallic-Coated Iron and Steel Products recently approved revisions to two standards that clarify the thickness tolerances for both uncoated and coated steel sheet products. These standards are A568/A568M, Specification for Steel, Sheet, Carbon, Structural, and High

Jan 12, 2007 · As for mill straightness, it may be in tolerance, but is unusually bent. Most A36 that I've used was straight to .005/foot. But I have recieved some that was so crooked it wouldn't work in a automatic band saw.

NOTE 2 If the longer dimension is under 36 in. [914 mm], the tolerance is not greater than ¼ in. [6.4 mm]. NOTE 3 For plates with specified minimum yield strengths of 35 ksi [240 MPa] or more,
